We were looking to get our sweet tooth fix this afternoon and decided to take a drive to Kenmore NY. We had just heard of the King Condrell’s so we had no idea what to expect.
This place stands out with it’s splash of color among other smaller retailers in this block of Delaware Avenue.
The store has a 50’s style soda shop feel to it with the chocolates and candy section on the right. We walked up to the counter to order as we do at all other ice cream places but we asked to take a seat anywhere and that the waitress would be over shortly.
We found a strategic spot in the place where I can observe all the going’s on in King Condrell’s. From this picture it didn’t look like much but there were a couple of tables with people.
The waitress comes over and wishes us good luck with the 10 page menu full of ice cream, coffees, teas and soda’s. We each ordered a 2 scoop sundae, they call them Deluxe Treats.
This is what we ordered:
It’s not often that we get waited on for ice cream. Each ice cream type was served in a different type of bowl or dish from what we could tell. The ice cream was tasty, with good flavorings, the whipped cream looked freshly made but didn’t have much flavor.
This was definitely a different experience, kind of old world like. I was told that this place has been around for a while, 50 years or so. Their website shows the whole history for the King (Ice Cream and Candy) family and the Condrell (Chocolates) family and how they merged.
I will have to stop by again with the family and do more sampling…their menu is long so it will require multiple visits.
